It's really not my fault, it must be a women thing. It's like as soon as we - women, move into a new place we think decorating is the most important thing on the to do list.
Isn't this right ?
I mean, what if you get a couple of unexpected "drop ins" to see the new house. Obviously the decor must be complete. Who really cares about all those boxes filled with things you use every single day, you'll figure it out later right?
Wait, are my priorities out of whack ?
Naw. Knew you would agree.
So with that being said, instead of dealing with the many boxes around the house, I completed another mini DIY.
Let's start from the beginning shall we. I have an obsession with Homesense. I find myself going in once a week (okay 2 or 3 times) just to browse the aisles as they get new things daily. (well I think, looks that way to me. I may have short memory loss, ask the Mr.)
Moving on - About 3 months ago I was on one of my weekly Homesense browse sessions, when I spotted a beautiful table runner. At this point we had viewed the new house but hadn't put an offer down, I'll spare ya the details as there are LOTS.
So long story short I bought the table runner, because somehow I was going to incorporate it in our new (not yet bought) home.
Alright, now I'm blabbing, so here is the story in a nutshell.
I bought the table runner 3 months ago.
Friday I tried it out on our new table in our new home.
It didn't fit.
I cried. (well not quite, but I was sad)
Saturday I returned to Homesense hoping to buy another one and sew them together.
FAIL.
They sold out.
So, I bought another simple grey one, hoping I could do something with it to make mine longer.
TA DA ! It worked. I'm happy again.
Here is what I did.
Below is the already cut (sorry) table runner I purchased (on sale.YA!) to be the add on. Yeah, I know I really need to get organised with a craft room, so I can save my kitchen counter from hot glue blisters.
A project for later !
I just measured the length I wanted my runner to be on my table and cut enough of the spare runner to be able to achieve this. These are my pieces.
BONUS - there is left over material for another future project !
Now grab the glue gun...
It's is my favorite tool, as I am bad at sewing....for NOW ! I'm slowly learning, I'll get there, you just wait and see.

Glue away !
Turned out better than I thought !
Please ignore the lack of wall art, missing curtains, and the paint colour. I am on my way out now to purchase the new paint !
Wish me luck. I'll post pictures !
PS - check out the light fixture I got the Mr. to install. I'm in love.

That's a wrap for Wednesday's post.
Come back and see me Friday !
Post ya then.
Bye.Cya.

Great job!! I'm looking for a new table runner, too. I'm thinking of sewing one but can't find the fabric I just LOVE. :) And, I'm a newbie at sewing, so I keep putting it off. :)
ReplyDeleteFound you on the SITS fb page. I'm a SITS fan, too. :)
Love it! Great idea and I actually like the one you made better than the original.
