Finally ! I'm finally done this DIY !
It's such a fast project to do; however, between planning a 3rd Birthday and starting a new business my time has been cut short in the DIY project department.
Let's jump right too it because when you hear how cheap this is I'm sure you will be as excited as I am about it !
This whole project cost me about 40 dollars.
I know I'm excited too !

I know I'm excited too !
Let me start by asking : Why the beep are headboards so freakin' expensive to buy ?
Actually here is a better question : Why the beep do people pay that much moula for a headboard when you can make one yourself for SO much cheaper?

If I've learnt one thing on this blogging journey is that homemade is better !
So with that being said here is my homemadelittle king size headboard.
This is what I used :
9 foam board sheets at a dollar a piece
Sheet set
Bed foam (left over from a previous project)
Gorilla Glue
Glue Gun
Left over sheet of wood
My first step was cutting my 99 sheets of foam board into 15 by 15 pieces.
I needed a total of 17 of these squares to fill my king size headboard.
I then cut my bed foam into the same size squares.
All cut up !
Next step : Cut my material into a tad bit bigger than my squares to make sure it fits over the the foam board and the bed foam.
Don't forget to iron your material before the gluing step.
I used my handy adhesive to keep my foam and material steady while I did my gluing.
Heat your glue gun up !
I placed my material down first, bed foam next then topped it with my foam board - as shown in the picture below.
Glue away !
Tip : Make sure you pull your material tight before you glue.
One down, 16 to go !
I'm pretty sure I can now make these at lightning speed now.
Just throwing that out there.
Now for the headboard.
I got my Mr. to cut the sheet of wood into 75 inches long by 50 inches tall.
I decided to take the scraps from my material-fabric-foam-squares-thingies and glue them to the top and each side, so the wood is not visible from any angle.
Next for the gluing of the material-fabric-foam-squares-thingies to the wood.
I used a glue gun as well as the Gorilla glue so reenforce the strenght.
All done !
Here it is ! All ready BUT not hanging yet ! I've decided to show you the full effect when I reveal out new Master bedroom.
Stay tuned !
I hope you enjoyed the short tutorial and make sure to drop me a line if you make your own.
Happy headboard making guys !
Thanks for reading my blog.
