Night stand makeover !

A little paint goes a long way.
Well in my case, a little sanding, priming, painting, re-sanding, staining...
You get the point.
But this project was totally worth the full day's work.

If you are a regular here, you would know about my small "always changing my mind" problem.
Now, if you are waiting to hear that my tiny problem has been cured you'll have to come back another day year, because I'm definitely not there yet my friends.

This brings me to our master bedroom. I've recently changed my mind about the whole decor for the room....too bad it was after I bought material, pillows, a duvet cover,a throw, and lamps.

I have a problem. Admitting it is the first step right ?

Anyway, instead of going for the modern look, I've decided that I'd like a shabby chic room.
I'll blame this on one of my favorite blogs House of Smiths. Their house is amazing. I want everything in it. Period.

Okay, so  here are my night stands before
Here is the already half sanded drawer from one of my night stand, because I forgot to take before pictures.

Side note: We just bought these new last year, like late last year. Let's just say this project was started and finished while the Mr. was at work.
*evil laugh*

First step : Sanding.
Since the night stands were pressed wood I used my sander for some parts, but had to also do a lot of the sanding by hand. This was the longest part of the project.

Step 2 : Primer !

Step 3 : Paint ! I went with an off white colour.
The first is primed the second is primed and painted.

Step 4: Age it !
What you will need for this is a wood stain, a rag, small brush, and sanding paper or block.

First, sand random sections of the night stands, with your small brush apply a small amount of wood stain to the area you have sanded. Let sit for a few seconds then wipe off with rag. This will you leave you with an aged look.

This is your end result.

Ta-Da !
I'm done, turns out the Mr. loves them too !

They are perfect little match to my other ideas I have planned for our bedroom.
Stay tuned and I promise I won't change my mind again....about this room !

Thanks for stopping in today !
Sorry I've been a bit off this week. The holiday on Monday had me thrown for a loop, I was literally one day behind all week. I missed posts, play dates, and an appointment. That's one for the books.

Enjoy your weekend guys !

  3. Really pretty! It's probably a good thing I have no outdoor space/space period to do this type of thing...our whole apartment would be repainted. I love this look.
