Shabby Chic kind of rocks.

Happy mid week !
Alright I'll get right to it - this one is a tad long.
If you aren't a fan of pictures I'd say this post isn't for you - let's just say I got a little camera happy on this one.
Remember earlier this week when I mentioned I decided to change everything in out master bedroom ?
No ?
Wanna know ?
Get caught up with my "slight problem" HERE.

This little DIY is going to fit perfectly with the new look I'm going for, oh and it took a total of 10 minutes to make. Minus the drying time.
The best part - it cost me 12 dollars to make 2 of these.

This is what I used :
Left over wood from previous projects. (originally 4 by 6)
Gorilla Glue
Spray Paint
Wood stain
2 old style mason jars (love.love.love)
Wood designs (That's totally not their "given" name)
Mini wood legs

I cut My Mr. cut the wood down to this :

Next step: Glue on the wood designs.
Can you tell I've never worked in a Home Depot?
The guys hate to see me come in because I think they know I call everything by it's wrong name.
"Where are your wood design thingies ? You know they have a flat back and you can stick them to things...with glue I mean."

Ta-Da.
Well not quite but I'm getting there.

I got the Mr. to drill a small whole in the smaller wood pieces so the wood legs would fit nicely inside...with a little help from the Gorilla.

See ?

Now glue your small piece of wood to the big one, forming a shelf and let the glue dry for a couple of hours.

I used Satine Rust-oleum Paint to cover the sconces.
Then aged them the same way I aged my night stands.
If you missed that one you can check it out HERE.

Done !
Now time to overload you with pictures of the pretties.

Hope you love them as much as I do !
Now I just need to find the perfect candle for my jars and hang them up.
Try them yourself - they would be great in any colour and you could use regular vases if you aren't a mason jar lover.

Thanks for reading my blog guys !

Bye.Cya

  1. OK, since you don't know the names of the design thingies (thingies is a technical term, I'm sure), what section of the store is it in? I would love to use some of those in a couple of projects!

  2. Those came out great. I'm not much of a DIYer, but these seem easy enough that I *think* even I can do it. I'm stopping by from SITS! Have a great SITS day!
