Vintage Milk Bottle Vase

A few weeks ago I was out yard saling and found a couple of vintage glass milk bottles. Despite the Mr.'s "What the heck are you going to use those for Ash?" I bought them anyway.
I do have to agree with him in questioning me on my purposes because I tend to buy ridiculously-useless-yardsale-items. It's a slight problem.
Although this time, I'm thankful I went with my "semi crafty" gut feeling because these turned out to be perfect for a little add on for our yet to be revealed not yet done master bedroom.

This super easy and super cheap. It's amazing what you can make with "junk" !
I used my milk bottles, old string, lace pieces (also found at a yard sale) and a handy glue gun.

The steps are simples of course. Wrap the lace around the bottles gluing it into place.

Do the same with the old string.

Simple right ?
The best about these is that you could personalise them any way you want.

This mini project cost me a total of 2.25$ for two of them.

A little shabby chic goodness to start of your Monday !

Thanks for stopping in !

DIY Headboard

Finally ! I'm finally done this DIY !
It's such a fast project to do; however, between planning a 3rd Birthday and starting a new business my time has been cut short in the DIY project department.
Let's jump right too it because when you hear how cheap this is I'm sure you will be as excited as I am about it !
This whole project cost me about 40 dollars.
I know I'm excited too !

Let me start by asking :  Why the beep are headboards so freakin' expensive to buy ?
Actually here is a better question : Why the beep do people pay that much moula for a headboard when you can make one yourself for SO much cheaper?
If I've learnt one thing on this blogging journey is that homemade is better !
So with that being said here is my homemade little king size headboard.

This is what I used :

9 foam board sheets at a dollar a piece
Sheet set
Bed foam (left over from a previous project)
Gorilla Glue
Glue Gun
Left over sheet of wood

My first step was cutting my 99 sheets of foam board into 15 by 15 pieces.
I needed a total of 17 of these squares to fill my king size headboard.

I then cut my bed foam into the same size squares.

All cut up !

Next step : Cut my material into a tad bit bigger than my squares to make sure it fits over the the foam board and the bed foam.

Don't forget to iron your material before the gluing step.

I used my handy adhesive to keep my foam and material steady while I did my gluing.

Heat your glue gun up !

I placed my material down first, bed foam next then topped it with my foam board - as shown in the picture below.

Glue away !
Tip : Make sure you pull your material tight before you glue.

One down, 16 to go !

I'm pretty sure I can now make these at lightning speed now.
Just throwing that out there.

Now for the headboard.
I got my Mr. to cut the sheet of wood into 75 inches long by 50 inches tall.

I decided to take the scraps from my material-fabric-foam-squares-thingies and glue them to the top and each side, so the wood is not visible from any angle.

Next for the gluing of the material-fabric-foam-squares-thingies to the wood.
I used a glue gun as well as the Gorilla glue so reenforce the strenght.

All done !

Here it is ! All ready BUT not hanging yet ! I've decided to show you the full effect when I reveal out new Master bedroom.
Stay tuned !

I hope you enjoyed the short tutorial and make sure to drop me a line if you make your own.
Happy headboard making guys !

Thanks for reading my blog.

C.A.P's Train Party

Hi everyone !

First let me start by staying....holy cow.
I've been over the moon busy with my new buisness, prepping for C.A.P's birthday bash and getting ready for our 4 week trip over seas.
Today instead of showing you the DIY I've been meaning too since last week (...it's coming I swear.)
I wanted to share a little bit of C.A.P's 3rd Birthday Party with you all !

Naturally it's a train themed party since every second wod out of his mouth is "trains and train tracks"
Not one word of a lie.

Get comfy because I turned into my usual camera happy Mama !

As mentioned before my prints are from  :
Jenn's print packages are very affordable and come with SO many different prints.
Like I seriously didnt even use half. It's a great bang for your buck so make sure you check them out !

All my decorations were from the dollar store. Gosh I love that place.
Doilies, Wool string, paper prints and ballons were my best friends this weekend.
Here we go...

Birthday candles with every meal on his special day.

The set up : The windows make it very hard to get a nice bright picture of the room !

If you are a regular here you know I like to keep some things a secret.
One of them is my Mr. & son's name !
I've kept it up for so long why stop now ?
It keeps things interesting right ?

I lucked out by having such a great Step-Father, who just so happens to be a train engineer. He got us some sweet things to stuff the grab backs with !
Colouring books, tattoos, fridge magnets and DVDs...of course all train themed.
Can you say perfect ?
I also added a boy/girl present, crayons to go with their coloring books, bubbles and some gummies !

Cup cakes are the best for a birthday cake.
No need for a knife which means less dishes for Mama !

I found some cute little sippy cups from the dollar store 2 for 1 buck.
Added the paper prints to them and the kids loved having their very own cup that they could take home.

A little black tape to make some train tracks throughout the house - a cheap way to add some decor to the party !

Yep, still talking dollar store here. 8 for a dollar - can't get better !

I seriously laugh out loud every time I see this picture.
I felt it was best to hide this child's face since I'm sure not all mom's want their children's faces plastered over the net for everyone to see !
Props go to PicMonkey for this one.

And there you have it - I little sneak peak into my train party decorations !
Hope you enjoyed looking through the picture - Come back Wednesday for a visit !

My tea reading.

Hi all of you fabulous people ! Hope everyone is having a great week so far !

As I do my "regular tea reading" this am, I thought of something...

Why am I not sharing these wonderful blogs with everyone who reads mine.

So here we go, these are my favorite blogs to read. And my read I really mean...check every morning at 8am religiously in hopes they have a new post for me to creep and comment on.
I kind of love these....a lot.
They are fabulous blogs with ever better women behind them. They range from DIYs, projects, house renos and just writing.
They are pretty popular blogs so I'm sure some of you have heard and or read them already. BUT if you haven't, get to it.
Seriously, they will not disappoint.

Ashley has her own kiddo clothing line called "Little Blue Boo". What else ? Well...
A) She is fabulous
B) Her writing makes me laugh out loud. All.the.time. If you are looking for filtered writing...you won't find it here, but that's what's so great, she tells is like it is !
c) She is an inspiration with her "Cancer Chronicles"  PS - She is beating it. I knew she would. I knew it because I know her and all....from reading her blog like a zillion times a day I mean. So like, an Internet knowing kind of way. She replied to my email once, so I kind of know her right ?
Not creepy at all...

Another Ashley ! I swear I'm not doing this on purpose.
This blog makes me want to be a better blogger, party planner, and writer.
Ashley is so talented at sharing her thoughts with her readers, and she always gets you wanting more. Seriously, read her "Love story" series. You'll be hooked.
Her projects are great and her family is the sweetest - make sure you check her out.

Cheri, is great. She actually helped me and gave me lots of great tips when i started this blogging thing.
Her site is FILLED with DIYs and ubber amounts of kids stuff.
Her ideas are original AND she posts every single day. How amazing is that ? Hello dedication.
She rocks.
PS- She was on Martha Stewart because of her blog.
Can you say amazing ?

Shelley and her family are so fabulous. Their blog is all about house renos, decor and DIYs.
Everything they do turns out nothing short of amazing. Like, magazine worthy amazing.
Her house tour rocks - she makes me want to change every single thing in my own. Actually, I'm going to blame her for my master bedroom "mind change" recently.
Side note : Check out her pantry, it's a dream.

So there you have it, my morning ritual. Well, besides bath time, breakfast, toy pick up, potty training accidents, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episode, and tea making. BUT, you get the point right ?

I know I promised a big DIY this week, and I won't let you down.
I promise.
I'll save it for Friday.
Well actually, I'm not saving it, it's just not done yet.
I'm being honest in hopes that you will forgive me.
C.A.P turns 3 on Friday and I've been the crazy mom who actually needs her own episode on "Party Mamas".
Stay tuned next week for all the details on his Train Party. I hope it's fabulous.

Thanks for reading !

It's the weekend !

Hey guys !

Just wanted to stop in today to say write a big THANK YOU to all the lovely SITS ladies for leaving lots of love on my blog yesterday. I loved reading every one of your comments they were very much appreciated.
My phone was blown up with email notifications of comments and I loved every single "beeping" minute of it. Literally.

So my plans were to show you a pretty big but super cheap DIY on here today, but unfortuntely it is SO hot in the house that I was unable to stay in and finish it. Good news is you now have something to look forward to for next week.
Eeeep.

My today consisted of big plans.
Or so I thought.
They didn't quite go as planned.
A large meltdown at Butterfly World, the grocery store, and at Mr.'s work place was not on my to do list. I'll blame that one of the heat.
PS - I didn't have the melt downs, although after # 2 I felt like I could have joined in.

With that being said, I'm going to end this post with a have a fabulous weekend everyone !
C.A.P is now napping and I am off to his very small kiddy pool to cool off...with a cocktail of course.

Happy Friday ladies and gents.
Thanks for reading my blog !
